چکیده
This work gives insights into processing and characterisation of bulk nanocrystalline FeCr materials. The investigated alloys, consisting 30, 50 70 at.% ferromagnetic Fe remaining anti-ferromagnetic Cr, are processed by arc melting subsequent severe plastic deformation high pressure torsion. physical similarities between elemental Cr in combination with the structure as-deformed necessitates advanced techniques for state: In-situ annealing synchrotron X-ray diffraction measurements as well electron microscopy experiments linked to magnetostrictive reveal a single phase microstructure. Surprisingly, alloys remain supersaturated solid solutions upon above 500{\deg}C, meaning decomposition nanocomposite is suppressed. For chosen conditions grain growth faster than enhanced values found compared materials state.

Zinc based alloys have recently attracted great attention as promising biodegradable metals. Zinc exhibits moderate degradation rates in biological fluid and the zinc releases during the degradation process is considered safe to human systems. However, these materials exhibit critical limitations in terms of mechanical properties for medical applications. Adding alloying elements as well as gra...
متن کاملNucleation of deformation twins in nanocrystalline face-centered-cubic metals processed by severe plastic deformation
Nanocrystalline nc materials are known to deform via mechanisms not accessible to their coarse-grained counterparts. For example, deformation twins and partial dislocations emitted from grain boundaries have been observed in nc Al and Cu synthesized by severe plastic deformation SPD . This paper further develops an earlier dislocation-based model on the nucleation of deformation twins in nc fac...
متن کاملNumerical Analysis of Severe Plastic Deformation by High Pressure Torsion
High-pressure torsion (HPT) is a metal processing method in which the sample is subjected to a very high plastic shear deformation. This process can produce exceptional levels of grain refinement, and provides a corresponding improvement in mechanical properties. To investigate the stress and strain distribution due to HPT process finite element simulation were conducted to investigate effectiv...
متن کاملNanocrystalline Ti Produced by Cryomilling and Consolidation by Severe Plastic Deformation
We report on a study of the nanocrystalline structure in Ti, which was produced by cryogenic milling followed by subsequent consolidation via severe plastic deformation using high pressure torsion. The mechanisms that are believed to be responsible for the formation of grains smaller than 40 nm are discussed and the influence of structural characteristics, such as nanometric grains and oxide na...
